O Veleiro Bed and Breakfast is a charming, relaxed, guesthouse style B&B known as a Cama e Café in Brazil. Our secure, convenient location in Botafogo in the heart of south zone Rio - just a short way up an old colonial cobble-stoned road dating to the 1800’s - allows you to feel like you have left the hustle and bustle of Rio behind for the countryside! Surrounded by remnants of Atlantic forest and blessed by cooling breezes in the heat of summer, small monkeys, parrots, toucans and other fauna visit our property daily. You are only a 30 min. walk from either the Christ Statue Train or Sugar Loaf, or a 10 to 20 min walk from bus/metro then 5 min on public transport to the beaches. Alternatively, a short, inexpensive taxi ride of 7-12 min will bring you to either location or Copacabana/ Ipanema. The surrounding area offers magnificent views of Botafogo, Sugar Loaf, Tijuca Park and the Christ Statue. Gardens, decks, a small pool, bar and common areas are spread over 1000sq m of forested property. Rooms look out onto the gardens with air conditioning, fan, individual room safe (plus LCD TV/DVD and mini bar fridge in our suites). We use quality, pillow-top spring mattresses to guarantee a good night’s sleep. Towels and quality linens are provided, as is daily housekeeping. We serve a full, complimentary, buffet style breakfast from 8-10am in our dining room, with a variety of breads, cakes, pastries, cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, fresh tropical fruits and homemade juices, jams and spreads, Brazilian coffee, selection of teas or hot/cold chocolate to ensure your day gets off to a good start. Free hi-speed WiFi throughout and an optional Guest Computer if needed. One of your hosts is a registered guide with the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism and we offer customized Tours, walks and hikes in and around Rio. Additional services include Laundry service, bar, snacks, sandwiches. There are over 50 restaurants, bars and cinemas and a major shopping mall within a 20 min walk from the house. We offer an optional airport transfer service.
